This policy was adopted on January 2, 2020.

The Montana Healthcare Foundation is committed to protecting the privacy and security of your personal information. The following will help you understand how we collect, use, and safeguard the personal information you provide. When you visit our website, you agree to be bound by this Privacy Policy.

If you have questions or concerns about our use of your personal data, please contact MHCF Communications Manager Melinda Buchheit at

Information Security:
We follow generally accepted industry standards to protect the data you submit to us, both during transmission and once we receive them. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. Therefore, while we store these data in a secure and encrypted environment, we cannot guarantee their absolute security.

Website Visitors:
We log our website users’ IP addresses (the internet address of a computer) to understand which pages of our website users visit, how long visitors spend there, which files are downloaded, and the type of technology visitors use. We use these data to determine which parts of the sites are of most interest to our audiences and to help ensure our website works well with a wide variety of hardware and software.

When you sign up for our email updates, we ask you to provide basic information, including your name, email, and interest areas. This information is collected so we can send you updates and announcements, as well as targeted information on the topics that you are interested in (grant opportunities, research and analysis, events and convenings). This information is gathered in a secure, encrypted form. You can unsubscribe from our email list at any time by clicking the ‘unsubscribe’ link at the bottom of every email.

Our subscribers' information is stored indefinitely on Campaign Monitor’s servers. You can read more about Campaign Monitor’s Privacy Policy here.  We track the performance of our emails using metrics provided by Campaign Monitor which monitors email opens and interactions (such as link clicks and unsubscribe rates). We do not sell our email lists or share them with other organizations for marketing purposes.

Updating Personal Information:
You can update your preferences or unsubscribe by clicking the ‘Preferences’ or ‘Unsubscribe’ links that are included in all emails. You can also update your information or stop receiving emails from us by contacting Melinda Buchheit at with your changes. Please note that by unsubscribing you are opting out of receiving any future email blasts from us including newsletters and grant-related updates.

Third-Party Sites:
We will not sell your personal information. We do not contract with any advertising or marketing agencies to gather individual or group profile data on our visitors based on personal profiles. We do not target for-profit advertising to visitors.

When doing business with or applying for a grant from MHCF, we ask you to provide information including your name, address, contact information, and organization and/or company details. This information is gathered in a secure, encrypted form in SmartSimple, our grants management system. This information is collected so we can determine your funding eligibility, incorporate you into our system as a grantee, contact you with reminders and updates, and make grant and services payments. Your contact information will also be collected in our email lists so that we can send you Foundation updates. By providing this information, you agree to receive updates from MHCF.

The name and email addresses of our subscribers are stored indefinitely on the servers of SmartSimple, on our behalf, to manage our grantees and those we conduct financial interactions with. You can read more about SmartSimple’s Privacy Policy here. MHCF does not sell our users’ information. MHCF does not share grant proposal information unless we have received approval from our grant applicants to do so. After a grant has been awarded, information about the organization that received the grant, the project name, amount of the grant, and a summary of the project is made public on our website.
